When I was 13 yrs old, I asked Jesus into my heart on a church hayride. Shortly after I was  baptized at my childhood Baptist Church home. It was complete with the white church robe and all. 

I did not, however, follow Jesus after that experience.  My life was a sordid tale of alcohol, sex, drugs, and debaucheries of adventures. 

At 36 years old, I got sober and started to seek a relationship with God.  I wasn’t sure who “He” was nor if He wanted a relationship with me. 

What I found over the past 7.5 years is a loving God who has been pursuing my heart all along. Through recovery, church, and other Christians, I have found a relationship with my Father.

Through the experiences of life, I continue to be refined by the fire and recovered by God to serve His purpose.  My hope is that sharing my past will help others see God’s light and the hope for a brighter future.

Summer Butler is an author, speaker, and Bible study leader. She walks with women, couples, and teens through the struggles of blended family life. Called to connect others to Christ, Summer has sparked blended family communities across the US encouraging members to look up to God for answers instead of out to the world for approval.

Summer and her husband Andy have been married for eleven years and live in McKinney, TX with a teen and their together son while the oldest is off serving our country in the USMC. (Ooh-rah)
